As I played SR1 since its first public build, a lack of MP wouldn't stop me. I bank on them doing the latter, and am cautiously optimistic about SR2. Netcode is hard on a good day, it proved too great a task for what, at the time MP answered this question, was a team of 4 people. Their game is running on some really impressive tech, but getting the bouncy cute slimes to not melt CPUs was a challenge enough without also having to semi-reliably send all those complex simulations over an internet connection where packets are often lost or sent in the wrong order. The devs ignore it, because they don't want to deal with the logistics of having 2 player entities running around a world with as much physics simulation as slime rancher has - which, by the way, is their official answer on why the first game doesn't have MP. The devs actually do add co-op because they've seen the demand for it since day 1 (and I played the first SR since alpha 0.1 back when it was an exe you downloaded from the humble store, so I've seen that request a lot, and no doubt they have too.)Ģ. The reality is that 1 of 2 things is gonna happen.ġ. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it doesn't make you happy, or feel good. So what do you get out of posting this in a petition thread? Multiplayer won't make SR a better game and if you won't buy the sequel because it doesn't have co-op then that's fine, I just think your expectations and demands are silly. I imagine that feels like ♥♥♥♥ to MP after so much hard work. Multiplayer wouldn't necessarily make this game better and I think demanding that they possibly waste resources on something outside of their vision is rather entitled and disrespectful.Ī studio that started out with less than 10 people make a game with so much character, color, and charisma are able to go through making a sequel to their first game and 80% of the response is "okay but where's this feature we were asking for in the last one, why don't you change everything to make this one feature". I'm not against multiplayer, I just don't think it suits /this/ game, and MP likely agrees because SR2 currently shows no signs of co-op. Because that's their vision for this game series. They're likely continuing that into this sequel. MP has already made it clear that Slime Rancher is a story about Beatrix and the experience of loneliness. Thank you for affirming all my assumptions about the universe today. Ngl i hit refresh just to see if someone had posted the inevitable backlash comment against multiplayer.īecause there's always one, for some reason. Messaggio originale di OrganizationOatmeal:It's all about artistic freedom for game devs until they won't add something unnecessary that you want, huh
